Icon Truth Meme
14th-Feb-2006 07:30 pm
King K
Since there's a lot of icon hostility floating around, I decided to do this:
ICON TRUTH MEME
-Comment with your username and people will comment with what they feel about your icons. COMMENT TO THOSE PEOPLE ANONYMOUSLY, even if it's good or bad. Feel free to use examples, but please try not to hotlink. If you need to, use a regular link to an image.

So, anonymous is on, IP is off. PIMP THIS PLEASE.
And please don't be rude when commenting, there is a difference between constructive and destructive criticism.

Also, even if you feel like you're not the best icon maker, please comment anyway, or comment to other people. This is supposed to help people grow, and see their strengths and weaknesses.

SO DO IT. THANKS.

Your icons are fantastic. Excellent grasp on color, contrast, focus on subject matter, and variance of style and font. Your simpler icons are great, lovely cropping and whatnot, but you really shine when you go the extra step and unleash the textures, brushes, and stock images. Some may call it "busy" but there are others who strive to find those icons which are more like little pieces of art than a nicely cropped image. You have a firm grip on how to use all these elements to pull together a coherent and gorgeous icon.

Really, I have very little to offer criticism for. Except occasionally your cropping gets a little too extreme - cutting off most or all of character's faces. I'm aware it's a particular look that is deliberate; it's really a matter of personal choice, as some don't like it much and others do. Just seems a shame to waste your talents on an icon of a shoulder or an ear - I'm not sure most people use those types of icons much. We like to look at the pretty people's faces. :) Just a suggestion, though.

I for one am glad for this post! I wouldn't have found these excellent icons otherwise. Keep up the good work!

Oh, and make some Neville icons! ;)

I love the coloring on your icons, but they seem just a little plain at times.

Brilliant. I LOVE how you use light textures, especially. Usually I find the style kinda old, but your icons just work with them, it's like your signature or something. I love the brushes, the text, the cropping, everything you use. Your style is unique, and you're very talented. Anyways, great work, keep it up. :D

i really really don't want to make you down with this so please don't take this the wrong way.i'm really just trying to put together what i think about yer stuff.

I think you could improve way more with the tools you have.Your text itself is rather dull and you could make so so much more out of it if you'd just experiment a little.
Same goes for your cropping, your icons just never seem properly cropped to me.
The simple style icons (like the b/w gwen one) are rather dandy sometimes.I do enjoy them.
When it comes to coloring sometimes you seem to overdo it a litte.Too many colors just don't work all the time. You could do a lot with playing around with that as well.

Generally, i don't have thing for your icons. They're just too unoriginal and sometimes it looks like you're putting way more effort in it as the result looks like.

Some of your icons can be a bit light, but overall, I think you've got a very unique style all your own. I think the only thing I can suggest would be to experiment with other colors every now and then.

I love them! I like that you used many different techniques in your icons instead making a whole bunch of one style. The wallpapers are also very lovely. Beautiful job! *claps*

You & moonrouge are the most talented icon makers on LJ ever. Period. Your stuff is fabulous and girly and cute! I always wondered why you never posted at heiressicons, and then I realized: you're better than them! Your community is one of my very favorites, and I admire all the hard work you put into it. Plus, you always offer great stuff other than graphics, such as limelight open registration alerts and tips for making a free LJ look paid. You rock!

i like the punky pixel effect, but some of the coloring makes your subjects hard to see.
