Icon Truth Meme

King K
Since there's a lot of icon hostility floating around, I decided to do this:
-Comment with your username and people will comment with what they feel about your icons. COMMENT TO THOSE PEOPLE ANONYMOUSLY, even if it's good or bad. Feel free to use examples, but please try not to hotlink. If you need to, use a regular link to an image.

So, anonymous is on, IP is off. PIMP THIS PLEASE.
And please don't be rude when commenting, there is a difference between constructive and destructive criticism.

Also, even if you feel like you're not the best icon maker, please comment anyway, or comment to other people. This is supposed to help people grow, and see their strengths and weaknesses.

Your work is good but could use a lot more work. Plus, you seem to get more grief for making yourself icons when you still have paid requests pending. But your work is amazing, It's the timing bringing you down as a maker.

You are one of my favorite iconmakers

Late--but I'm curious as to what people have to say, even though I hate most of the icons I make.

My icons are posted at tudor_colours.

I think you've got exquisite cropping. I love the compositions that you choose to work with, and the mostly muted colors that you chose. I think they work well for the majority of your subject matter. I would encourage you to continue working on your text - you've got great word choice, but some of the fonts are a bit pixelly when they shouldn't be, and you tend to fiddle with the opacity of text, and I don't think that you need to. But your strength is definately in your cropping, and I think you've got fantastic potential.

I'm quite curious.

I love the composition of most of your icons - especially your Gilmore Girls ones (I love your Paris icons). However, sometimes it seems like you over do the brushes and it makes the icons too busy and confusing to the eye (ex. your Atlantis icons). Relax with the brushes and keep with the excellent cropping and compositions.

I'll try. Have a go...

Some lovely images and cropping there. Heh, and the ones where the face is oriented sideways, that is nicely original.
Personally I dislike text you can't read, it's very frustrating.
And sometimes the colours feel a bit too washed out, though that depends on the particular icon.

The ones with the little animation boxes, some work, and some don't. I think the ones that don't work fail because the animation part is so distracting you can't really concentrate on the whole icon, wheras the ones that work (such as the one where it zooms in on the girl's eye, or the "fly high" one) the still part of the icon points towards the animated part. I particularly like "fly high" in that regard. I think it also helps if the animation has a sort of "rest" position, where it pauses for longer at the start or end of the loop, which also happens with "fly high".

Kill me now, get it over... =D

Aw, don't be a drama queen.

Well... one of the faults I can see is that your text is often not clear to read. Not enough contrast between it and the background, or the background is too mixed to be able to see it clearly. You might want to try to experiment with drop-shadows or text bands or stuff like that.

It can be hard getting variety out of manga/anime based icons, since you aren't dealing with photographs so there's more limitation to what kind of manipulations you can do to it. I can see some of your icons are rather blurry, was that an attempt to make them more interesting? Because sometimes it just means that they look blurry.

How intriguing. Yes, please do comment on my icons. Note that they are shown in chronological order; they contain the good the bad and the ugly...

Yeah, ok I can't. I can't with this bullshit. I just can't. You sooooooooooo need more comments than this. You are AMAZING! You need to know it. You are the best icon maker in the known universe in my opinion. Ya Rly. Srsly!

Don't ever stop making icons. I might die. Lol.

Much love! =P
24th-Feb-2006 09:04 am (UTC) - Might as well...here's mine

(Just so you know, the ones that don't appear anymore are ones that I removed from my server/album).

There's also my LJ user pics, which may have some not on the other two places.

The icons from the first link are very good, but the second link is awful! Each icon is of terrible quality.

Overall, though, assuming the first link is more recent than the second, you seem to have a great grasp of color. Text and image quality are all you should work on!

Your Icons are very beautiful, the use of color and technique is very distinct. I would love to see more Inuyasha + Kikyo avvies though!

I love your cropping and coloration, it never looks overdone.

I would be sent to hell if I ever put down one of your icons. It's like a sin. OMG, you know what I do? I go on candied like every day and refresh the screen repeatedly hoping there will be a new icon post. Seriously.

I am so glad this is anonymous. XD
