Icon Truth Meme
14th-Feb-2006 07:30 pm
King K
Since there's a lot of icon hostility floating around, I decided to do this:
ICON TRUTH MEME
-Comment with your username and people will comment with what they feel about your icons. COMMENT TO THOSE PEOPLE ANONYMOUSLY, even if it's good or bad. Feel free to use examples, but please try not to hotlink. If you need to, use a regular link to an image.

So, anonymous is on, IP is off. PIMP THIS PLEASE.
And please don't be rude when commenting, there is a difference between constructive and destructive criticism.

Also, even if you feel like you're not the best icon maker, please comment anyway, or comment to other people. This is supposed to help people grow, and see their strengths and weaknesses.

SO DO IT. THANKS.

Great lighting, could use a little more color. But I like :)

that 'be kind' is probably the reason you don't have any comments: you're basically saying you actually don't want people's opinions.

Ummmm. Okay, I'll try this. marishna.

I LOVE the use of cropping and color in your icons. They're just gorgeous. I could gush all day. =]

Your icons are awesome. You use so much color and so much texture and it never feels like too much. I love the bright colors you use and the slightly vintage style your work has.

oh wow--i really dig your style a lot.

however, you've got some pixellated edges from over-sharpening. come on, don't be afraid of the soften brush!

Your coloring and contrast is definitely very good, and your cropping is nice. My major criticism of your icons is that you oversharpen and then oversmooth things, so that people have really pixely edges to their features and pixelated hair, with fakey porcelain looking skin. On your most recent set, you did that a lot in the Lindsey Lohan and MKA icons, but the Emma Watson ones are mostly better. Watch out for overdoing that - it should be a subtle effect, not a screamingly obvious one.

Your icons are quirky and adorable. I love the way you use backround textures (like in the icon you're using now, actually) and brushes.

I've got two lj scrapbook galleries of original icons here.

It's not by any means all of my originals, but I'm working on getting them all in lj and organised that way!

the text is in my opinion a bit overwhelming in the icons. Maybe you can make it a bit smaller. You saved your icons as JPG's but try saving them as PNG's. The quality gets a lot better then! The icons are now a bit blurry and the text doesn't come out as it should. :)

Oh, you are the QUEEN of iconing. Yours are always vibrant and creative, so I always end up taking pretty much all of a set and agonizing over which ones to use. You've got a style of your own, too, so they never get old. Yours are icons worthy of abject worship.

Honestly, I thnk you make really strong icons. You do complex really well. The only time I think you run into trouble is when you do icons with really hard or vivid coloring. In some of those the color is overwhelming and the image gets a bit lost. But that's so minor compared to your other strengths!

Your one of the best icon makers I know of. I dont know how you manage to make the icon subjects stand out so much whilst retaining the smoothness at the same time.

I like the variety of effects you use and the mulitple image icons. Err I cant think of anything bad to say except stop being so good :P

I've always liked your icons, and you had a really good handle on color, but lately the quality on your work has jumped up a level. I love what you're doing with text and brushes and how bold your coloring is.
